What
The O-BLIX SecondTree is a hammock pole made from recycled aluminum—lightweight, durable, and incredibly strong.
The O-BLIX SecondTree is a European product, produced as locally, sustainably, and socially responsible as possible. The pole is made from recycled aluminum. The aluminum parts are precision-machined at Donk Industries in IJselstein in the Netherlands. Assembly and packaging take place at the L1 social workshop in Ecodorp Bergen NH, where people with unique talents bring everything together.
How
The O-BLIX SecondTree cleverly applies a few basic physics principles to create a portable yet sturdy anchor point for your hammock.
When you lie in a hammock, you pull on both ends. Normally, you need two strong anchor points, like trees. The O-BLIX SecondTree allows you to replace one or even both trees by smartly distributing the hammock’s pulling force across the support pole and two guy lines.
The pole is positioned at a 45-degree angle relative to the hammock’s direction. The guy lines are also anchored at a 45-degree angle from where the hammock attaches to the pole, forming a kind of tripod structure.
Because the pole is angled, the horizontal force from the hammock is partially converted into a pushing force along the pole. Without support, the pole would tip over—but that’s where the guy lines come in. They absorb the remaining force, keeping everything stable and secure.
